Reading reflection The article that is d Strategic Planning In s Of Higher Education: A Case Study Of Sakarya University was written by Nermin Akyela, Tulay KorkusuzPolatb, and Seher Arslankayab and might be seen as a great example of showing how the contemporary realities are able to influence various areas of social life. It is suggested that the tremendous development of various technologies shapes the world view of the present day humanity in a rather different way: indeed, many areas like science and social interaction are now facilitated through various devices that increase the quality of cooperation.

One of the most direct results of it was the increase of demands when it comes to higher education. There is no doubt that several centuries ago, the latter was considered to be a privileged activity and relatively few people were able to boast their education. However, nowadays it is considered to be an irreplaceable element of a fully developed person. In addition to that, the quality of education was able to improve as well: due to technological advancement the science was able to obtain evidence that it longer for.

Keeping all this in mind, one might conclude that higher education will now require more funding. However, the authors were able to show that the social environment was not able to provide a sufficient amount of financial funds that would provide education facilities with the opportunity to live up to the expectation of the contemporary people. In other words, there was a situation when this area of social life was provided with new goals, but not with new opportunities.Under such circumstances, it was logical to expect higher education to locate new sources of funding.

This brings up the question of the connection between education and other areas of social life. Originally, it was thought that the former should be free of different activity, such as economy, or significant institutions such as Church. However, nowadays, higher education facilities are in need of funding that they are able to receive from different sources. It is suggested that Sakarya University was able to implement successfully this new approach and create convincing plans that outlines its development in strategic perspective.

This means that higher education facilities were now seen as organizations that are able to manage their resources. However, in order to attract investors from areas of social life, it is crucial to show how they will be able to utilize the funds. One of the major points that were articulated in the article was the connection between the strategic plan as well as mission and vision of the university. The latter concepts are of high significance as they reflect the unique nature of a higher education facility as such.

Moreover, they shows that the staff still possesses the integrity that it is respected from and is willing to carry on its noble mission of distribution of knowledge, armed with new principles of managements and social interaction that will make sure that this higher education facility belongs to the new age.
