Similarly, employers tend to pay high salaries to maintain experienced employees. Accountant, financial analyst and stockbroker jobs depict different bonuses as a percentage of their base salaries. For example, an accountant in New Albany receives 2% bonus of his or her median salary while a stockbroker in New York receives a bonus of 4.7% of his or her median salary. These differences are due to various factors. For example, employers pay policies and practices as well as value placed on the job by the employers.

The data include the value of stock options. For example individual willing to work as stock brokers in New York can easily access stock prices in other countries such as China and South Africa. Major implication of the inclusion of stock options is that stock brokers can identify the market segment that will produce high returns. The accountant and the financial analysis jobs depict accurate descriptions for jobs that I would be applying for. Being a fresh graduate with no wide experience is the major aspect that makes me feel I match the description of the two jobs.

Some of the jobs that I cannot find an appropriate match include stock brokers and software engineers. This is due to lack of adequate skills on the field of stock analysis and software development. According to the salary.com, the pay level of the various jobs is lower as compared to the pay level in the school’s career office. One of the major reasons of this difference is the performance of various industries and economic challenges thus making companies to offer lower salaries. Secondly, as more students seek to pursue high paying jobs as indicated in the schools career offices, the supply of qualified job seekers increase thus resulting to lower pay levels by companies.
