Viral Ad Advertisement entails the communication of ideas to target populations so that the ideas can be bought. However, it takes heaven on earth to formulate a successful ad that gives the desired results. Most ads fail miserably because they do not adhere to the principles of effective advertisement. Simply uploading videos on social media or airing the same on television does not suffice. These simple requirements are what many marketers ignore simplicity, unexpectedness, concreteness, credibility, emotion, and story.

In short, it takes a simple, unexpected, concrete, credentialed emotional story for an ad to go viral on whatever platform it is placed. The Devil Baby Attack ad uploaded on YouTube is a perfect manifestation of these principles. On simplicity, the ad does not involve much detail. Everyone is familiar with babies on carriages. The ad makes use of a simple carriage rolling down the streets, but with no with no attendant. Those who encounter the baby are simple persons on their errands in town.

Nothing is unique about that. The setting is also quite simple: the ordinary streets of New York City. On unexpectedness, the ad makes use of an abandoned baby on a carrier. It is quite rare for parents to abandon babies on the streets. If it were a shopping center, a hospital or a children’s park, one would find the scene realistic. On the contrary, it is unexpected to see a baby abandoned on the streets where cars pass and every passer is a stranger. This scene has to draw people’s attention.

On concreteness, the choice of devices gives the ad a great score. Firstly, the use of a baby is at the center of the principle of concreteness. People would be attracted to an abandoned baby than a disabled adult or puppy, for instance. Secondly, the devilish look that scared people to death is an important aspect of the ad. Without this feature, the ad would have failed miserably. People watched the ad just to see the scary part. On credibility, the ad scored highly in terms of preparing people for the actual movie.

The scary nature of the ad prepares the target audience for a breathtaking horror movie. This is in line with the “try before you buy” philosophy. When people know the scales of what to expect, they are bound to buy the idea. On emotions, the ad inflicted fear in viewers. Babies are known to be helpless. The idea of a devil baby raises the fear in people, especially parents who having babies. They relate the scene to their case. Children would also feel moved by the ad, thinking that they could also turn out as devils.

Lastly, the ad is a perfect story too well told. When people buy the movie, they do it with the story of a devil child scaring people on the streets in mind. Horror stories abound, but it is rare to find children on carriers involved. This is the most important aspect of the ad that makes it a story to tell.Work CitedYouTube. “Devil Baby Attack.” Accessed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUKMUZ4tlJg
